“No Power in the ‘Verse Can Stop Me”

There’s something to be said

about not knowing where you’re headed.

The spontaneity,

the rush of the ever-changing wind.

I know where I am,

and I know where I’ve been.

The land of this country cakes my shoes,

as does a couple of foreign ones, too.

There are pins in a map

on my wall, reminding me

of options and desires.

I’m not afraid of a plane ticket

or a little road dust.

Trepidation is a demon all

its own for the conquer,

but I have hundreds of others

to face first.

No, I’m not worried

accompanied by a map

and an open road.

My sense of adventure’s just fine.
