Ode to the Ocean

Your smooth surface
Kisses my toes.
Your waiting embrace
Never goes.

Like a child,
You mock my hesitance,
With a laugh so wild.

Cautiously, I slip in.
Entranced by your beauty,
Your fluidity,
Your rhythm.

I am not afraid,
As I drift to sea.
I would never trade
The arms around me.

Your territories a mystery
I wish to explore.
In them you show me
A new love to implore.

Time passes unnoticed.
The skies begin to change.
A voice from the sand
Calls my name.

I must now go,
Please wait for me.
You’ve taught me so
I won’t forget thee.
